At least four drowned that night, including one Russian

A 55-year-old Russian drowned in Leppävirta, in Northern Savo; a 71-year-old resident of Helsinki died on the water in Kontiolahti in North Karelia.

A man born in 1970 drowned in Taivassalo in Southwestern Finland.

The police report that in all cases strangers managed to get the drowned out of the water before the arrival of the rescuers, but too late.
