Central Union of Business Life EK proposes tougher penalties for work exploitation

The Central Business Association (EK) proposes to introduce new measures to eliminate exploitation in the labor market.

EK proposes to criminalize, in particular, extortion, which is often practiced against foreign labor. According to the EC, this means a significant increase in the current penalties.

The EC also proposes to increase the resources of the police and other authorities, as well as to update the system of issuing a worker’s residence permit in order to strengthen the position of foreign workers. EK also proposes to improve accessibility of referral services and provide additional support to victims of exploitation.
