Corpen: a unique place in Barcelona where artisan gin is created

Corpen is a small craft gin factory located in the heart of Poblenou, Barcelona. It opens the doors to the general public to offer an exciting guided gin and cocktail tasting tour. Corpen is a project by Brian Burgess, a former North American Marine. He and his project partner, Pablo, had a passion for craft beer and then decided to apply the small brewery model to create a quality gin.

Brian and Pablo focused on producing a gin with a strong flavor. Their Corpen Gin – Llevant, named after the Catalan wind, combines notes of juniper, orange peel, black pepper and eucalyptus. “We’re interested in clean flavors that don’t get lost when you make a gin and tonic,” emphasizes Brian, adding that they only work with natural ingredients.

They also focus on environmental friendliness, so they do not use any plastic elements in their production, only recycled glass and wooden corks. Brian and Pablo are obsessed with zero waste in their production.

A 90-minute guided tour in English or Spanish in their space will introduce you to the secrets of gin making, distillation techniques and the types of the drink. Visitors can also enjoy tasting and gin-based cocktails.
