Finnish film Coupe 6 premiered in Cannes to be released in the US

Sony Classics has acquired the rights to display Juha Kuosmanen’s painting in America. Previously, of the Finnish films, the company released only Aki Kaurismäki’s film “A Man Without a Past”.
The contract concluded with the film company Sony Classics for the director Juho Kuosmanen means a significant breakthrough – and not only in the American market. The film “Coupe No. 6” will be released not only in North America, but also in Latin America, as well as in Eastern Europe, Southeast Asia and the Middle East.
Films for which Sony Classics has bought the rights to screenings include popular films such as Love by Michael Haneke , which won the 2012 Oscar for Best Foreign Film, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon Ang Lee , as well as the Academy Award-winning Call Me By Your Name by Luca Guadagnho .
From Finnish films, Sony Classics previously bought the rights only to show the picture Aki Kaurismäki A Man Without a Past in 2002.
The main roles in the film “Coupe No. 6”, based on the bestseller of the same name by Rosa Lixom , were played by Sadie Haarla and Yuri Borisov . The film will be released domestically in September 2021.
Juha Kuosmanen’s film entered the main competition program of the Cannes Film Festival, the finale of which will take place on Saturday.
