Madrid is waiting for an abnormally hot summer

The climatic situation in Spain recently beats all records: if it rains, then it is torrential; if snow, then snowfall of the century. It looks like summer temperatures are also keeping pace with the general trend. The Spanish Meteorological Agency (AEMET) predicts that three summer months will bring higher temperatures than usual.

For comparison this year, AEMET takes average temperatures between 1981 and 2010. In the case of Madrid, in the early days of June, the maximum temperature between 1981 and 2010 was recorded at 25 to 30 degrees, and the minimum temperature was 15 degrees. June 2021 already surprises residents of the capital with temperatures ranging from 30 to 35 degrees. These numbers are also higher than those for the first days of June 2020.

In terms of rainfall, AEMET predicts the average rainfall for all corners of the country. In the case of Madrid, rainfall in June has already exceeded the average.
