According to the police on Twitter, the demonstrators positioned themselves on a road in central Helsinki and blocked traffic. They did not react to the police order to leave the road, so the police used tear gas.
Some of the participants of the rally were carried by police officers into police cars.
Demonstrators demanded urgent action to combat climate change. They represent the international movement Extinction Rebellion (Finnish name for Elokapina).
