Prosecutor overturns appeal against Talvivaara management

The public prosecutor has withdrawn an appeal earlier filed with the court in the case against the management of Talvivaara. Thus, the fully acquittal verdict passed by the county court a year ago has come into legal force.

Charges were brought against CEO Pekka Per , CFO Saila Miettinen-Lähde and Commercial Director Pekka Erkinheimo . According to the prosecutor's office, they used inside information to manipulate Talvivaara shares on the stock market. The accused denied their guilt.

Talvivaara's mining operations were taken over by the state-owned Terrafame in 2015. In 2017, Talvivaaran Kaivososakeyhtiö JSC was renamed to Ahtium, and in March 2018 filed for bankruptcy.
