Rescue services are busy eliminating the consequences of the storm “Riikka”
Trains in Eastern Finland are still hampered by the Riikka storm that hit the region yesterday. Regular buses run between Joensuu and Nurmes instead of trains, Finntrafic reports. The railway line between Joensuu and Parikkala has already been repaired.
Rescue services in Eastern Finland have answered dozens of storm-related calls.
The disaster brought with it thunderstorms and torrential rains.
According to forecasters, about 7000 lightning strikes the ground during the storm. According to the Meteocenter, Suomussalvi in Kainuu received 30 mm of precipitation per hour.
