Spain leads the world in Google searches

In recent months, more and more countries are gradually opening their borders, and travelers from all over the world are planning trips and actively looking for accommodation and convenient flights on Google. The process of gradual recovery of domestic and international tourism is analyzed by a platform such as Google Destination Insights. The analysis showed that Spain is one of the favorite destinations of users.

Compared to the same period in 2020, international search and travel planning in Spain grew by 203%. Also, interest in European flights has grown by 50%, among which flights to Spain, Italy and France are in the lead. Among European tourists, residents of Germany, France and Great Britain are especially interested in Spain.

The Destination Insights platform, which is currently available exclusively in English, not only details the main high-demand destinations, but also identifies the zones that travelers most want to visit. For example, among Spanish cities, Palma de Mallorca, Barcelona, Madrid, Malaga and Ibiza are in the lead. As for the desires of Spanish travelers, they are interested in destinations such as Italy, France, Germany, Portugal and the United States.

Google has implemented not only the Destination Insights tool, but also a useful Hotel Insights platform for those working in the hotel industry. It helps you understand tourism demand and make decisions based on up-to-date data. In addition, in Spain, Google launched Think FuTourism, a platform dedicated to finding solutions for the tourism sector, based on recommendations from the largest experts in the field. Also, this topic is being developed by the Travel Analytics Center platform, which is available for companies in the tourism sector. It was this platform that helped the Spanish airline Vueling get a clear picture of the demand for flights during the pandemic. This is how Vueling was able to increase ticket sales and generate additional revenue from its advertising investment.
