The House of Thorns in Barcelona has a coworking space

The famous House of Thorns (Casa de les Punxes) used to function as a house museum until it was closed during the pandemic. Cloudworks, a company whose mission is to create cozy coworking spaces in Madrid and Barcelona, has chosen this home to open its eleventh space.

The house with spikes, which looks fabulous, is located in the heart of the Eixample district, between the Avenida Diagonal and calle Roselló and calle Bruc. It was created in a modernist style, but has clear Gothic features. The complex consists of three buildings, which are crowned with six towers trimmed with thorns, which gave the house its name. It is also called Casa Terradas, as it was designed by the Catalan architect Josep Puig y Cadafalc, commissioned by Bartolomé Terradas Brutus, who wanted a house to be built for each of his sisters.

In 1975, the house was declared a National Historic Landmark. The new Cloudworks coworking space occupies its ground floor and terrace. This workspace has been carefully designed to blend seamlessly with the modernist style of the building. Visitors will be welcomed here in September. Cloudworks plans to specialize in work teams of 6 to 10 people, but those wishing to work alone will also be able to attend the coworking space. And one of the terraces will become a place with a relaxed atmosphere for the general public. It will host meetings, exhibitions and private events.
