Top restaurants in Austria serving the best schnitzel
Vienna schnitzel is a favorite Sunday dish of the Austrians. It is also considered the national dish of Austria, and according to the survey, it was the most missed item during the lockdown. The Falstaff Gastronomy Guide has identified the restaurants with the best schnitzel.
Traditionally baked with veal, by far the most popular dish is Viennese pork schnitzel, and making the perfect Viennese schnitzel is a philosophy of its own. In addition to good quality meat, eggs, flour, rusks and the correct temperature of the ghee are also important in cooking. Only golden brown schnitzel in a wavy, loose breading – a real Viennese schnitzel.
“The Viennese schnitzel is the epitome of traditional Austrian cuisine and has always been very popular with Austrians, whether in a restaurant or on Sundays at the family table,” says Falstaff editor Wolfgang M. Rozam.
The culinary magazine identified the country’s most popular schnitzel restaurants by voting.
