Two Italian hostages freed with Sophie Pétronin and Soumaïla Cissé

The Italians Nicola Chiacchio and the priest Pier Luigi Maccalli have been released

Two Italian hostages, including a priest kidnapped in Niger in 2018, are among the four hostages released in Mali, the Malian government announced on Thursday in a press release.

In addition to the Malian politician Soumaïla Cissé and the last French hostage still detained in the world , Sophie Pétronin, Italians Nicola Chiacchio and priest Pier Luigi Maccalli, in the hands of jihadist groups, have been released, according to the same press release.
