Uutissuomalainen: THL postpones cancellation of recommendation for wearing masks

Health and Human Development THL has managed to prepare guidelines to mitigate the recommendation for wearing masks. However, the increase in the number of infections caused by football tourism in St. Petersburg has changed plans, according to the news outlet Uutissuomalainen.

According to the head of THL Markku Tervahaut , this issue could be reconsidered at the end of summer if the number infected will decrease within a few weeks.

As of July 1, 386 cases of coronavirus were recorded among those returning from St. Petersburg. Infectionist Veli-Jukka Anttila reported on Yle’s morning TV program that there are 800 people in quarantine in the Uusimaa region.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Health and Social Development Taneli Puumalainen , it will soon become clear whether the restrictions in Finland need to be tightened again.

According to Puumalainen, before planning measures to mitigate requirements for travelers, it is necessary to closely monitor the epidemic situations in different countries.

– The proportion of infections brought from abroad is growing. Although vaccinations are progressing well, the epidemic is unlikely to be prevented from growing.
