Valio and St1 joint venture to produce biogas from manure

Food giant Valio and energy utility St1 are planning to form a joint company that will produce biogas from manure and other agricultural by-products. Biogas will be intended primarily for trucks.
By 2030, the company plans to produce fuel per terawatt-hour – subject to sufficient demand for biogas. According to Valio and St1, this could cover a third of the biogas needs of freight transport in the context of the rejection of fossil energy sources.
St1 will respond to gas distribution through its own network of filling stations. In addition, both companies plan to increase the use of biogas in their own logistics.
