Elon Musk unveiled the next electric car his company is preparing to send in mass production. The new Tesla Model 3 for masses will achieve 215 miles (345 km) of range per charge while starting at $35.000. The roof of the car is a continuous pane of glass and respects the design lines of its “brothers”. The company will start shipping the car in the late 2017. Let’s be frank – that is not the cheapest price one could get, but it is a great one if you consider this is a full electric car and it’s the 1st of this type on the market designed to conquer big audiences.
These are the 10 things Elon Musk announced at the Thursday’s event:
1. 215 miles (345 km) range per charge
2. It speeds up to 100 km/h (60 mph) in under 6 seconds
3. Seating for 5 Adults
4. It has a 5-Star Safety Rating in all categories
5. Autopilot Safety Features
6. Deliveries will begin at the end of 2017.
7. Base model of Model 3 is rear wheel drive
8. All Model 3s will come with supercharging support standard.
9. Model 3 has a different screen inside than its predecessors. It is 15 inch horizontal monitor in the dash. Model S and Model X have a 17-inch portrait (vertical) monitor.
10. People can reserve a Model 3 by paying a $1000 deposit on the company’s website. Musk said yesterday that Tesla received over 100 000 pre-orders.
